Capcom aiming for more major game releases

Capcom will be upping its output of Resident Evil and other major titles. As part of a general report on attempts by publishers to reduce development times, the site states that Capcom aims to increase output of new entries in popular series like Resident Evil from the current two titles per year to three or four titles per year.
In addition, with disappointing sales of internationally-developed games like Bionic Commando and Dark Void, Capcom is also looking to have international developers work more closely with Capcom’s core dev team.
It seems like we may already be feeling the effects of the new goal, too, as new installments such as Street Fighter X Tekken (and vice versa), and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 have all been announced this year. (See screenshots.)
Also, Capcom is ready to explore the history of the Street Fighter series and revive some of the titles it finds there for launch, in a remade form, on the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade. The company has confirmed the Comic Con news that it will be bringing Street Fighter III: Third Strike back to life, although it has not specified when the title might be launched. The original fighting game appeared in 1999 in arcades.
Third Strike is the pinnacle of development for the Street Fighter III series. The original game arrived in 1997 and some changes were made in 2nd Impact, also launched in 1997. The third game introduced more characters, more moves and complicated the gameplay mechanics. Ports of Street Fighter III: Third Strike were released for the original Xbox, the PlayStation 2 and the Dreamcast. It’s not clear whether the remake will keep the same gameplay mechanics of the original or whether Capcom will update them to more modern standards.
Capcom’s goal in all of this is to avoid the falling sales and earnings it experienced last year. The company aims to stabilize earnings by releasing more software.
