Shank Review

Shank doesn’t mess around. It’s a violent, bloody and unapologetic rush through a grimy, gritty backdrop that is one part Robert Rodriguez movie and one part Saturday-morning cartoon. Read the rest of this entry »
Mafia II Review

In 2K Games’ Mafia II, Vito Scaletta is an Italian immigrant (Sicilian, to be precise) during the 1940s who wants nothing more than to make it in America. After witnessing the failures of his father—a tired drunk who apparently had his own problems to settle—Vito teams up with his buddy Joe and the pair are quick to turn to crime. Throughout the game, Vito and Joe climb through the ranks of organized-crime families in Empire City (essentially New York City). Read the rest of this entry »
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Review

Starcraft is back and it’s as better as it was ten years. It’s a fun, technically solid game with great music and solid visuals. There’s a decent 20 hours of solid gameplay in the single-player alone – pretty much all of it enjoyable – and there’s probably enough hours of fun in the multiplayer to last you, oh, let’s say 12 years. Need for Speed World Review

Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games are notoriously difficult to review, due to their constantly evolving feature set and rules. Akin to providing a match report of a football game at half-time, an MMO review can only serve as a document of the game at a certain point in time. Need For Speed World has recently exited its ‘beta’ status, meaning the game can only now be considered a finished product, though much is still up for change. Read the rest of this entry »
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Review

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light tells of a guardian that Lara awakens from stone, which awakens another stone warrior, which starts a conflict between the two that had been resting for centuries (in case you didn’t see that coming). To be honest, that’s about as much as I got out of the actual storyline. Read the rest of this entry »
Sam & Max The Devil’s Playhouse: Beyond The Alley of the Dolls Review

Last we saw our friends Sam and Max, Sam managed to reclaim Max’s brain and place it back into his head after the crazy, infant, tyrannic, and absolutely annoying-as-hell Pharaoh Sammun-Mak stole Max’s shell and made the world in his image. Then, at the closer, an army of Sam clones invaded the scene. Read the rest of this entry »
WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2011 Preview

In this business the bigger steps get noticed and applauded, while smaller but important updates can be overlooked. Last year WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2010 was a huge step forward for the series and we gave it high praise for the implementation of an insanely deep online community as well as a new storyline creation mode to go with Create-A-Wrestler. Now a year has passed and WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2011 is due in a few months. Read the rest of this entry »
Batman: The Brave and the Bold Preview

If you’re not familiar with the Brave and the Bold’s take on the Batman universe, it’s very different from that of Arkham Asylum, or even Batman: The Animated Series. The game, like the show, is a throwback to the campy Batman of the ‘60s, with Robin making his goofy quips and the villains not remotely serious or scary. The game looks just like the cartoon – even to the point of feeling like you’re actually playing a hand-animated cartoon, which is pretty cool. Read the rest of this entry »
Disciples III: Renaissance Review

The fantasy turn based strategy scene has been poor with releases in the last years. Other than an expansion to the controversial Heroes of Might and Magic V and the excellent King’s Bounty remakes, there haven’t been a lot of titles to choose from as of late. Read the rest of this entry »
