The first gameplay footage has been released for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

This new instalment in the critically-acclaimed franchise marks the return to the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time game storyline by showcasing what happened in between Sands of Time and it’s sequel, The Warrior Within, that made the Prince change from light-hearted to battle-hardened. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will feature many of the fan-favorite elements from the original series as well as new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand. The rewinding time mechanic even returns exactly as it was in Sands of Time, where you can rewind your actions to save yourself from death, but each rewind will cost a blue orb displayed on the top of the screen. While also offering epic battles against over 50 enemies at once, and giving the Prince a range of new elemental powers that allow him to manipulate the environment in new ways.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will be released this May 18, 2010 to coincide with the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time film; and will be out on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP and PC. Fans of the previous games or the original trilogy will definitely want to check this new game out.
