Developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts, the expansion was released on March 15, 2016, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Getaway introduces four new maps, two new game modes, and a new vehicle to Battlefield Hardline. The four new maps are:

  • Alcatraz: A recreation of the infamous island prison in San Francisco Bay.
  • Bank Job: A bank heist scenario set in a downtown Los Angeles skyscraper.
  • Derailed: A train robbery scenario set in the Mojave Desert.
  • Growth House: A drug cartel compound located in the jungles of South America.

The two new game modes are:

  • Getaway: A cops-and-robbers mode in which the criminals must escape the map in a getaway vehicle while the cops try to stop them.
  • Hotwire: A vehicle-based mode in which players must capture and hold control points by driving vehicles over them.

The new vehicle is the Muscle Car. A powerful and agile vehicle, the Muscle Car is perfect for high-speed getaways and pursuits.

Gameplay

Getaway is a fast-paced and action-packed expansion that focuses on vehicle-based gameplay. The new maps are all designed to facilitate high-speed chases and getaways, with plenty of open spaces and winding roads. The new game modes are also designed to be adrenaline-fueled and exciting, with Getaway being a particularly tense and thrilling experience.

In Getaway mode, the criminals must escape the map in a getaway vehicle while the cops try to stop them. The criminals have a head start, but the cops have access to faster vehicles and more powerful weapons. The criminals must work together to evade the cops and reach the escape zone, while the cops must use their superior firepower and teamwork to take down the criminals.

Hotwire mode is a vehicle-based mode in which players must capture and hold control points by driving vehicles over them. The team with the most control points at the end of the round wins. Hotwire is a fast-paced and chaotic mode that requires players to be skilled at driving and shooting.

Reception

Battlefield Hardline: Getaway received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised the expansion’s new maps, game modes, and vehicle, while others criticized its lack of innovation and repetitive gameplay. However, the expansion was a commercial success, selling over 1 million copies worldwide.
