Sanctum 2: Road to Elysion (2013) Review

Sanctum 2: Road to Elysion is a tower defense game developed by Coffee Stain Studios and published by Iceberg Interactive. It was released on August 6, 2013, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Road to Elysion is an expansion to the 2011 game Sanctum 2, and it features a new playable character, four new maps, two new weapons, two new towers, enhanced enemies, and additional perks.

Gameplay

Road to Elysion introduces a new playable character named TSYGAN, a rogue insurgent who joins the Core Guardians in defending the only enclave of humanity left on the planet LOEK III. TSYGAN is a versatile character who can use a variety of weapons and abilities to take down her enemies. She is also the first playable character in the Sanctum series who can use a jetpack to fly around the map.

The four new maps in Road to Elysion are all unique and challenging. They offer a variety of different environments, from lush forests to icy wastelands. The new maps also introduce new enemy types, such as the healing monsters and the aerial enemy boss.

Road to Elysion also adds two new weapons to the game: the rapid-firing Gatling Laser and TSYGAN’s own handheld Ballista. The Gatling Laser is a powerful weapon that can quickly take down large groups of enemies, while the Ballista is a more precise weapon that can be used to take down stronger enemies.

In addition to the new weapons, Road to Elysion also adds two new towers to the game: the Range Spire and the Slow Field Dispenser. The Range Spire dramatically increases the range of nearby offensive towers, while the Slow Field Dispenser lets you strengthen your choke points further.

Enhanced Enemies

Road to Elysion also features enhanced enemies. These enemies are more challenging than the enemies in the base game, and they require players to use a variety of strategies to defeat them. The new enemies include healing monsters that can heal other enemies, mutating monsters that can change their form to become more powerful, and a brand new aerial enemy boss.

Additional Perks

Road to Elysion also adds six new perks to the game. These perks can be used to customize your character even more and give you an advantage in battle. The new perks include a perk that gives you an in-game pet robot that will fight for you, a perk that increases the damage of your weapons, and a perk that gives you a shield that absorbs damage.

Conclusion

Sanctum 2: Road to Elysion is a fantastic expansion to an already great game. The new character, maps, weapons, perks, and enhanced enemies add a lot of replayability and challenge. If you’re a fan of tower defense games, then you should definitely check out Road to Elysion.
