Summary

The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact (2004)

The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact (KOF: MI) is a 3D fighting game developed by SNK Playmore and released in arcades in 2004. It is the first game in the KOF series to use 3D graphics, and it features a roster of 20 characters, including many fan favorites from previous KOF games.

KOF: MI’s gameplay is similar to that of other 3D fighting games, with players controlling their characters in a 3D environment and using a variety of punches, kicks, and special moves to defeat their opponents. However, KOF: MI also incorporates some unique features that set it apart from other games in the genre.

One of the most distinctive features of KOF: MI is its “Guard Break” system. In most 3D fighting games, players can block their opponents’ attacks by holding down the block button. However, in KOF: MI, players can break their opponents’ guards by timing their attacks correctly. This adds a new layer of strategy to the game, as players must now carefully consider when to attack and when to block.

Another unique feature of KOF: MI is its “Max Mode” system. When a player’s health is low, they can activate Max Mode, which gives them a temporary boost in power and speed. Max Mode can be used to turn the tide of battle in a player’s favor, but it must be used wisely, as it can also leave the player vulnerable to attack.

The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact was a critical and commercial success, and it is still considered one of the best 3D fighting games ever made. The game’s stunning graphics, innovative gameplay, and memorable characters have made it a favorite among fans of the KOF series and fighting game enthusiasts alike.
